get the support you need

We strive to promote a comprehensive approach for each individual and work to find the individual treatment plan to help you achieve your goals and create the life you are striving towards.

The Art of Healing offers both individual and group sessions.

In an individual art therapy session the art therapist identifies the clients needs, sets the therapeutic goals, and develops appropriate intervention plans to help the client achieve their goals.

In group art therapy the group fosters shared experiences, builds a sense of community, and promotes self-awareness and personal growth with a sense of belonging and not feeling isolated.

What is art therapy?

While making art is fun, it is also productive both cognitively and emotionally. Art therapy is the combination of creative expression and psychology, creating a different way to learn about oneself. Through the art therapy process and the use of different art mediums such as painting, drawing or sculpting a client is able to create a perspective to understand the complex issues that they may be facing. Art therapists utilizes a wide variety of materials to facilitate this expression.  Mediums like pencils, paints, clay, and collage materials depend on the individual’s needs, preferences, and the specific goals of the therapy. One of the benefits of using art in therapy is that the creative process allows for a variety of sensory experiences. Sight, smell, touch, and sound are all elements associated with art-making. The materials that one chooses to use for their artistic creation has great meaning. The way a person interacts with the art materials they use can bring up emotional states both good and triggering by the sensory experience. The art therapist is able to understand and help identify, manage and develop the clients reaction to achieve growth and a sense of calm . It is through the art therapy process that the therapist is able to empower the client to recognize their triggers, understand their impact, and develop healthy coping strategies, allowing them to regain a sense of control over their emotional reactions.
